Calling All Next Gen Leaders!

Are you interested in joining the Next Generation Leaders Peer Group in 2017?

This is a small group of up-and-coming family business leaders (usually aged 21-40) who meet once a month for a year. A new group forms each January and monthly attendance is expected. This program features group learning experiences, one-on-one learning with an experienced facilitator, and the opportunity to take your personal development to the next level in a safe and encouraging environment.

Topics vary each month depending on the needs and wants of the group.
An Orientation session will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 from 12-1pm at Ohio Dominican University in the Griffin Student Center, RM 274.  Meet the facilitator, Dr. Thaddeus O’Brien, and find out what to expect in this year-long program. Lunch will be provided.

If interested in attending the Orientation, please RSVP to Amy Dotts at adotts@familybusinesscenter.com.

What is Talent?
Job Matching: Selecting Superior Performers
Have you ever hired someone whose best day on the job was the day they interviewed?  Have you ever wondered why?  If you were interviewing would you “puff” (think about it)?  How does your organization get through the “puff” in the selection and hiring process?

Businesses today are challenged to find better ways to secure the right talent for success.  But what talent does a job require for superior performance?  Only the JOB has the answer, so let the job talk and listen carefully.

 We will explore:
  • If the job could talk what would it reveal?
  • Impact of hiring mistakes.
  • BIAS – The #1 challenge in the selection process.
  • What three attributes are key to any job.
  • Can a strong brand carry a weak sales force?
  • IQ vs. EQ (emotional intelligence)
  • Why failure to use assessments as part of our hiring or screening process limits the ability to accurately select superior performers.

National Family History Month

Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service is pleased to announce its participation in October’s National Family History Month by hosting a presentation by BiographyNOW on October 20th (one session at 11:30 AM and one session at 4:00 PM) at our Worthington chapel, located at 6699 N. High Street.

Schoedinger is one of 15 funeral homes from across the country to celebrate National Family History Month as part of a special nationwide program curated by the Funeral Service Foundation and the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) that weaves together the importance of sharing and capturing family stores with the funeral profession’s Have the Talk of a Lifetime® public outreach initiative, which inspires families to talk about life and the things that matter most.

The event hosted by Schoedinger will feature a presentation full of information about memorializing a loved one’s life by creating a unique hardback book full of personal stories, photographs, and local history.

Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service will also distribute Have the Talk of a Lifetime Conversation Cards, which were created by NFDA with the support of the Funeral Service Foundation, to encourage families to share stories and talk about what matters most long after the event concludes.
