Eradicating Entitlement in Your Family Business

April 16 – 7:30-9:00 a.m.

Alumni Hall at Ohio Dominican University

1216 Sunbury Rd., Columbus, OH 43219

What does entitlement mean to you? Is it an annoying attitude displayed by the next gens in a family business? Is it unreasonable expectations that alienate family and non-family employees alike? Or is it a serious condition that threatens the ongoing success of a company? The answer could be “all of the above”.

Alex Freytag, of ProfitWorks, will help you further define entitlement and identify its symptoms so you can prevent and eradicate it in your own family business. Drawing on his experience working with hundreds of companies to diminish or defeat the entitlement mentality, he’ll share examples of how these issues can impact an organization and its employees.

Freytag will outline how family business leaders can overcome entitlement through an interactive session which will include family business owner Randy Dupler from Dupler Office. Join us to learn techniques that can be immediately implemented in your family business.

RSVP to Heather Howell at Admin@FamilyBusinessCenter.com or 614-253-4820. The program is free for Conway Center members and $35 for non-members. Family business leaders attending for the first time may attend as our guest.

Directors’ Insight

We’ve been hearing a lot about fraud and identify theft lately and wanted to share some resources with you to help you protect yourself and your company, and find help to recover from this debilitating problem.

For Fraud Prevention – Conway Center Service Provider FirstMerit Bank will be hosting a roundtable on fraud prevention from 8-9 a.m. on April 30. If you haven’t already signed up to learn best practices for threat assessment and risk management, email Heather Howell at Admin@FamilyBusinessCenter.com today!

Identity Theft Resources – Finding out that your identity has been stolen is one the worst feelings in the world – similar, but much more involved than having your purse or your wallet stolen and then having to replace all of your stolen items. One added challenge with identify theft is that you may not even know where to begin to resolve the problem. Rea & Associates, a Conway Center Service Provider, offers some tips to get you started – click here to learn more about the newest resource available to you – a compilation of documents and resources that will help you understand, and recover from, identity theft and refund fraud. In addition, Attorney General Mike DeWine also has information at: www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/IdentityTheft

Please save these resources for future reference but we hope you’ll never have to use them!
